Another Triathlon: Yuba Lake!
September 6, 2014

You would think I would stop posting about the triathlons we do now that we've gotten a few behind us but each one feels like a new accomplishment. I do confess that since I am 8 months pregnant I didn't do this one but I had so much fun watching everyone do it and it made me more determined to get back out there after the baby comes. Dan has already done an Olympic and another Sprint without me so I have some catching up to do. This year the crew was Dan, Hector, The Grandmaster (mom), Jamie, Staci, Kelsi and Aubrey. They all felt so nervous since nobody had done nearly enough training but hey, they beat me sitting on my butt on the sidelines! After some flat tires and exhaustion they all finished the race. They all say they are done but I know I will talk them into another one ;)

This one was at Yuba Lake again. Last year I got second in my age group and this year I had to sit out with swollen feet and more extra pounds than I'd like to admit but it made me excited to get back to it and hopefully one day have our little guy do some triathlons with us :)

Great Job everyone!
I watched Jamie's kids while she raced and they were so proud of her!

ALASKA
August 16-24

My dad loves Alaska. He tries to go one to two times a year and this year he invited my two sisters to go with him. Last second my sister couldn't go and I was the only one available (poor me). So I quickly packed my bags and off we went!

We flew in to Juneau and then we took a small airplane to the Pybus Point Lodge. There was a huge storm, mixed with motion sickness mixed with pregnancy and I threw up on the small plane, luckily we got a bag last minute ha ha. We spent the next 5 days deep sea fishing. We caught Sea Bass, Salmon, Halibut, Quill Back, Red Snapper and a few other things as well. The fishing was amazing and we were always catching things! We would be fishing 400 ft into the water and reeling it up with a fish was not easy (especially with this belly!) So Staci and I became a great team. I do admit that one time I tipped over on the front of the boat and couldn't get up...with my big green overalls I felt like a seal, it was really funny. While we were fishing we would see porpoises, and seals everywhere!

One night we took the kayaks out and we saw a momma bear with her cub fishing for salmon (which were jumping all over the place!) There were eagles and waterfalls...I literally felt like I was in "Brother Bear". It was an amazing experience! The last day we went whale watching and stopped at a really cool light house. We even went to see a glacier which was so pretty!

Boys Climbing Trip
August 15-17, 2014

The time had come once again for Dan and his friends do go on their climbing trip. I only got to see him for about 20 minutes between Aspen Grove and when I left for Alaska because he needed to get out to where they were climbing. While I never quite know what goes on there it does seem like a time for them to all get back to their old pre-responsibility days without wives and babies and high pressured jobs. I'm so glad Dan gets to do these trips and hope he continues to do them for a long time. (Yes, I do want him to be a 40 year old man camping and climbing with his old buddies)

What an amazing View! Dan took this with his phone
Poor Daryl got hit in the head by a falling rock
The boys
Dan may be getting older but he's still rockin' it (get it ha ha) ;)
